Is the Lego Jurassic World Indominus Rex Breakout 75919 Building Kit Worth Buying?

The Jurassic World Indominus Rex Breakout set is really quite something. Although it’s not cheap, you do get an awful lot of bang for your buck. The impound alone consists of more than 1,000 pieces, and the assembly is challenging in places and lengthy overall. Thankfully, the challenging elements stay on the side of fun and rewarding rather than frustrating, and when the piece comes together it really is an impressive sight.

The Indominus Rex is an imposing toy, and there is no doubt that it will participate in many other playtime activities. However, the real star of the set is the fully working gyrosphere. Rather than providing a simple plastic ball, Lego include a functional gyrosphere like the one Zach is trapped in in the movie. This is a lovely touch.

As for the characters included in the set, it has to be said that it would be nice to have a few more. There are 4 characters included; the genetic scientist Henry Wu, Zach, a vet and a generic ACU worker. This is slightly disappointing – a set this size really should include one or two more characters to finish it out.

Overall, this is a stunning set. Although it would be nicer to have a few more characters, even if they aren’t main stars, the real fun in this toy comes from the Indominus Rex, the helicopter and the gyrosphere. Existing Lego figures can be used to flesh out the numbers. It’s not a particularly cheap set, but it is one of the flagship sets of the entire Jurassic World range, and children and collectors alike will absolutely love it.
